The AmberCon2006 session of Double Dozen Seas featured a visit to the lovely Shadow Aidran.

Shadow Aidran was not ruled by terribly nice people at the beginning of the session. There were rumors that they had been responsible for the recent upsurge in piracy which had been plaguing the vicinity. It appeared as if they were under the impression that Amber was in disarray and that now was their chance to negotiate a good deal with Amber.

Amber dispatched two groups to area by sea. The first group (which User:JpBrannan was not among and therefore cannot recall clearly) engaged in anti-piracy and intelligence-gathering operations.

The second group included Admiral Ambrose, Commodore Sean O'Donovan, Ambassador Orlando, and Lord Fionntán Sabatini.

After the arrival of the Admiral's party in Shadow Aidran, the local regime demonstrated and eagerness to begin negotiating treaty terms with Amber. Commodore O'Donovan became ill during a tour of the Palace, thus delaying the start of negotiations.

The Commodore and the Admiral found other things to do, while the Ambassador was left to handle the negotiations with Lord Dr. Sabatini along as a spectator / moral support.

It became clear that the situation was intolerable, and that Shadow Aidran would not bow to Amber's will. This bit of hubris was perhaps one sin too many for the rulers of Shadow Aidran, as they died rather horribly at the beginning of a general revolution in their city. The Ambassadors from Amber were safely evacuated.

Of those in the main wing of the palace in Shadow Aidran during the state dinner that coincided with the beginning of the revolution, there were only two survivors: Ambassador Orlando and Lord Dr. Sabatini.
