Characters in JP's Champions World

These are some of the characters that you might bump into if you suddenly found yourself transported to my Champions setting. You'll note that some of the character names are links - click on them to see the character sheets.

When you see a reference to a character's threat classification or power level, here's what that means.

Adamantine: the mostly invulnerable member of Victory Squadron. He died in a nuclear blast along with Mastermind.

Avatar: a fascist Omega-class mutant with energy-manipulation powers.

Black Dwarf: Smallest member of the Sentinels

Blue Angel (Dr. Jessica Brice): Voted best dressed superheroine three years running, even though her costume is just blue spandex.

Cerebus: cybernetic cynic, formerly a member of The Liberty Brigade, and possibly the noblest of the that rather mercenary group.

Climate: a class Omega mutant with the ability to control weather on a widespread and long-term basis. He's the reason there isn't a Sahara Desert anymore.

Crusher: member of the Victory Squadron. As long as he only crushes what he's told to, he tends to stay out of trouble.

Deadboy: The Ace in 12-ton power armor.

Dr. Gee! (Professor Gabriella Flaumel, PhD, MD, etc): a member of the Aces, and author of the best selling video game series Riddle of the Pegasus. Possibly the most brilliant computer engineer since Mastermind.

Fantasy: the intangible leader of Eagle Force. Remember, she's just a fantasy - she's not the real thing.

Flapjack: A stretching mutant that was really trying to come up with a codename lamer than StrongArm.

Flare: an energy-projecting mutant and the youngest member of the Defenders.

Gebrandt, Jamie: see Mastermind

Gebrandt, Shelly: america's favorite action movie actress, who inherited her "father's" billions (see Mastermind). Oh yeah, and she's an android with a fusion power cell.....

Graviton: a teenager with gravity-based powers, the most visible of which is the ability to make himself really, really heavy and fly into people. First appearance: Tales to Flabberast #1.

Hazard: a mutant with the somewhat-controllable ability to alter probability. Definitely not the sort of thing you want to see in a player character.

Hydrostream (Kelly Drake): a water-breathing brick. Currently an active member of The Defenders and an inactive member of Victory Squadron.

Know-It-All: a teen-aged telepathic member of IMAGE. KIA possesses the singular ability to have the snot beaten out of her by Sidewinder.

Lynx: the feral femme of Eagle Force.

Maragor: the sorcerer from California.

Marathon (Robin Lockwood): the current leader and CEO of Victory Squadron. Her hypermetabolism lets her run from coast to coast in under an hour, as long as she wears a life support suit that keeps her blood sugar levels up.

Mastermind (Dr. Jamie Gebrandt): the leader of Victory Squadron, the genius who found the cure for cancer and developed EarthNet. He died trying to repel an alien invasion in 1973.

Nucleon, the particle man: a class Omega mutant with the ability to manipulate and transmute matter.

Phantom Shadow: He shows up when he's needed and leaves when it's over. Presumably he has occult-based powers, but it's hard to tell since he's the personification of the "Mysterious and Enigmatic" disadvantage.

Philosopher: He's the telepath that used to hang out with The Defenders.

Professor Chrome (Robert Mathias): a former university professor turned armored vigilante. Professor Chrome is second in command of The Defenders.

Psycho Kid: A psychotic teen who's disturbed mind generates way too much energy and then channels it for purposes of mass destruction, which is useful when you're the combat field leader of The Liberty Brigade.

Rampage: Eagle Force's brick. Likes working for the SRD because it's better than prison. Does a very good job or Fantasy will blow his head off.

Razorwing: Well, she's big, she's ugly, and she has very sharp metallic wings. She's not just a supervillain, she's a natural disaster.

Red Fife: A teenager with the constitution of a vending machine. Aka Relentless Lad. His goal is to save up his experience points and become "Unstoppable Menace." First appearance: Tales to Flabbergast #1.

Reflex: a member of Victory Squadron. He has superhuman reflexes, not superhuman speed. Please be careful not to sneak up on him.

Sidewinder: a French-Canadian teenager with the ability to manipulate his personal space-time continuum. First appearance: Tales to Flabbergast #1.

Slipstream: She's the cheerful member of The Liberty Brigade. This super speed character is the only member of Liberty Brigade that wasn't a player character at some point.

Snake Eyes (Ray Larson): psychic member of the Sentinels

Sorority: A mutant with the ability to split herself into four bodies (Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta). She was ultimately cashiered out of The Liberty Brigade.

Squadron: a mutant who works for the United States Superhuman Resources Directorate (USSRD). Er well, actually she's six mutants, but that's the point.

Stinger: Well, it's either the shapeshifting mutant leader of The Liberty Birgade or a 70,000-pound wasp - which do you believe?

Strongarm: one of the Victory Squadron psycho-bricks. He has possibly the lamest name of any active super, except for maybe Big Fritz.

The Thimble:Nimble Kid Crimefighter. Member of the Sentinels.

Tor: a teleporting agent of IMAGE.

Valar: the all-american nuclear brick, a class Omega mutant.

Valor: see Valar.

Valkyrie: Well, if you belive in magic and alternate realities, then you should have no problem believing in this elven warrior who hangs out in Malibu with Dr. Gee! and the Aces.

White Knight (Mark Hyman): the super-patriotic leader of The Defenders. A strong telekinetic. Yes, his real name is an in-joke - laugh if you get it.
