The New Courts

"We are now very near to the real Earth, though still far from Amber," said my brother. "It will be futile to run through adjacent Shadows..."

-- Roger Zelany, Nine Princes in Amber

From the Ambercon 2011 Game Book

You were a scion of Order, a princeling of a jeweled city whose Pattern made it (and your power) eternal. In the blink of an eye that changed as your world and six eerily similar ones were thrown together. Now you are one of the few surviving royals of Amber, Diamond, Pearl, Ruby, Lapis, Emerald, and Jet. It is up to you to master a world gone suddenly mad.

This is a continuation of the series which started at ACUS 2010. New players are welcome.

Game Information Genre: Adventure/Heroic Type: Alternate Amber Format: Tabletop/Traditional Teen Friendly: No Setting: Characters will be the suddenly-thrown-together scions of several alternate jewels of Order in a world gone mad. Contact the GM to work out details.

Additional Information for Players

The Jewels of Order: Seven Variations on the Reality that Was

Each player character hails from one of seven jeweled realms of Order. Some things are common to all the Realms. For one, each Castle is built of its namesake material (including Amber). Each sits atop Kolvir, and each is peninsular, bordered on the west by forest. Each has a reflection in the air and water, and unknown to most are themselves reflections of a Primal Pattern, each of which was drawn by Dworkin. Each has a patron beast. Each is ruled in some fashion by a version of the Royal Family. Also, each of them is/was involved in a conflict when the campaign happened.

Each of the linked descriptions is, of necessity really, mere barebones. A brief description of the place, followed by mentions of its sky and water reflections and applicable rulers, and then thumbnail sketches of the royal family, including notes on any changes and a few cousins.

Each of these worlds was combined into the new reality in Episode I

Take a Tour...

  • Diamond, The Pure Realm (Or is it?)
  • Pearl, in which Oberon battles Dworkin in The War of Uncreation
  • Amber, You May Have Heard of It and its Patternfall War
  • Ruby, The bloody realm of The Oberon War
  • Lapis, Can the realm of wealth and leisure survive Skyreach Descending?
  • Emerald, The madness of the Fiona Wars continues in Chapter XIV: Against All the Demons of Chaos, or Rali’s Revenge
  • Jet, The Realm that Was, Is, and Will Be despite (or because of?) its numerous horrors.

Character Generation Guidelines

Characters should be grandchildren of (an) Oberon who are present in his capital at the start of the campaign. Characters will be based on 200-250 points using a very-close variant of the ADRPG rules which allow for a few extra options.
